Course Title:Leveraging Technology for Safe, Efficient, and Healthy Spaces

Course Description:

Technology choices shape the everyday experience of building occupants in a contemporary setting to provide a safe, efficient, and healthy environment.

In this presentation, we will explore technologies that serve to promote the health, safety, and wellness of building occupants, specifically through low voltage and audio-visual solutions. Technology that supports building security will be discussed in their individual components and principles to guide how an effective solution works to protect occupants during everyday use and emergency situations.

Audio-visual solutions in contemporary environments will also be explained to show how digital signage can be used to increase occupant welfare and safety with successful use. Additionally, the role of digital wayfinding and building automation systems will be reviewed to show how they contribute to safe navigation and adaptive comfort within built environments.
